Grand Opening Highlights

Perry and Starr cut the ribbon
Paradise Salon Spa Wellness officially opened on Thursday April 23rd at 3430 Executive Pointe Way, attracting a hundred clients and a few dignitaries for a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Chamber of Commerce. Owners Perry and Starr Nixdorf cut the blue ribbon after remarks by Mayor Robert Crowell and Gil Yanuck, chairman of Carson City’s Chamber of Commerce.

Attendees then proceeded to marvel at and tour and view the expansive 7,266 sq. ft facility.  The impressive day spa, salon and wellness center is the largest business of it's kind in Carson City and may even rival the offerings of casino spas in Reno. The combination of spa and therapy pool is unique to Paradise and offers clients who have limited mobility a one stop personal care experience. Chamber members and clients alike were treated to a vast assortment of raffle prizes of all the offerings they have.

On Friday morning, "Sushi" the hot air balloon was inflated at 7 am and was able to fly high above Paradise for a short period of time. Unfortunately, the hot air balloon rides were cut short by the Nevada winds and by 8:00 o'clock had to be deflated for the safety of the passengers and the balloon. It didn't put a damper on the day though, as new and old clients came by all day to take advantage of the tours and free aquatic pool classes being done by Starr and Jeff Baretto, as well as free piercings with purchase offerings by Spear Me.

It was a real eye opener for some that doing exercise in the water could be so beneficial in so many ways esp. for those that find it hard to stay in shape due to injuries or other limiting conditions.  Some of those attending expressed concerns about getting into a bathing suit, but Starr assured them that they could wear any type of form fitting clothing in the water sating that "Exercise is the best medicine for pain relief and long term health, and we want to take out any obstacles that prevent you from getting the exercise you need." Starr and this facility are a real gem in the community.
On Saturday, the "professionals only BBQ", catered  by Carson City BBQ, was forced to be held indoors due to the cool weather. "We had hoped to be able to do this on our beautiful outdoor patio" Perry said, "but unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate with us today." Tables and chairs were set up in the pool area, where the warm, moist air was filled with live music by James Ames and professionals from around the community were treated to a lovely lunch.  Everyone was able to discuss exactly how Paradise could benefit their clients. Chiropractors, physical therapists and others were impressed by the complete offerings available to their patients. Compared to the Carson Swim Center and the hot springs, the only places that were available until now, Paradise's adult only, quiet atmosphere is far more suited to the needs of their patients. Simple things like having written instructions on the walls to help guide patients when they are not in a class or with an instructor, as well as a host of equipment to use in the pool, and the hooks and bars on the pool walls to provide assistance was appreciated by those attending.
